Microsoft and OpenAI have amended their historic agreement, ending the exclusivity that previously required OpenAI to use Azure as its sole cloud provider. While Azure remains the primary partner, OpenAI is now free to offer its products through other major cloud providers. The new deal also replaces the previous “AGI clause” with a capped revenue sharing model that decouples financial payments from technical milestones.
